Important: Please read before watching

This video guide was recorded on a previous version of Karapella. The design and interface you see in the video will look different from the current version — but all features, steps, and workflows are exactly the same. Updated video guides will be published soon.

Guide to Generating and Editing Karaoke Lyrics

This guide walks you through generating perfectly synced lyrics for your karaoke video using Karapella's AI, and editing them with the inline editor and Timeline panel.

Generate Lyrics

After your full karaoke files are processed, click "Generate Lyrics" on the karaoke screen. This button appears in the center of the 16:9 karaoke preview area. Within seconds, Karapella's AI analyzes the audio and produces synced lyrics overlaid on the video preview.

View Synced Lyrics

Once generated, the lyrics appear overlaid on the karaoke screen, synchronized with the audio. Press play to watch them highlight in time with the music.

Edit Lyric Text

Click any lyric line on the karaoke screen. An "Edit Line" button appears - click it to open an inline textarea where you can fix spelling, wording, or missing text. Click Save to confirm or Cancel to discard changes.

Adjust Timing with the Timeline Panel

Below the karaoke screen, the Timeline panel displays a waveform with colored regions for each lyric segment. You can drag regions to reposition them, or resize their edges to adjust start/end times. The toolbar provides buttons for Split, Merge, Del, Undo, and Redo. Use the Delay slider to shift all lyrics globally (e.g., 0.5s earlier for singer anticipation). Right-click any region for a context menu: Split at Cursor, Merge with Next, Delete Line, Add Region Here.

Customize Subtitle Appearance

Click the Subtitle Style button in the Timeline toolbar to open a drawer where you can customize font, size, colors, outline, glow, pill background, shadow, position, and margin. Changes are reflected live on the karaoke screen.

Save and Proceed

After editing, click Save in the Timeline toolbar to persist your changes. Once your lyrics are finalized, you can proceed to generate a karaoke video using the "Generate Video" button.
