Guide to Fixing Karaoke Lyrics

This guide covers everything you need to know about fixing and perfecting lyrics in your Karapella karaoke video - from editing text to adjusting region timing in the Timeline panel.

1. Open the Lyrics Editor

After your full karaoke files are processed and lyrics are generated, click any lyric line on the karaoke screen. The "Edit Line" button appears, and the Timeline panel below shows colored regions for each lyric segment on a waveform.

2. Adjust Region Timing

Each lyric segment is represented by a colored region on the Timeline waveform. Drag a region to reposition it, or resize its left/right edges to control when the lyrics appear and disappear on screen.

3. Split a Region

To split a lyric region into two parts, position the cursor at the desired point and click the Split button in the Timeline toolbar (or right-click and select "Split at Cursor"). This gives you finer control over timing for individual phrases.

4. Edit Lyric Text

Click a lyric line on the karaoke screen, then click "Edit Line." An inline textarea opens where you can fix spelling, add missing words, or rewrite the text. Click Save to confirm or Cancel to discard.

5. Delete or Merge Regions

To remove an unwanted lyric segment, select it and click Del in the toolbar, or right-click and choose "Delete Line." To combine two adjacent segments, use the Merge button or right-click and select "Merge with Next."

6. Add a New Region

If lyrics are missing for a section, right-click on the Timeline waveform and select "Add Region Here" to create a new lyric region. Then click the new region on the karaoke screen and use "Edit Line" to enter the text.

7. Set Global Timing Delay

Use the Delay slider in the Timeline toolbar to shift all lyrics globally. A delay of around 0.5 seconds is recommended - this makes lyrics appear slightly before the vocals, giving singers time to anticipate. Play the track to test and fine-tune the delay.

8. Save Your Changes

Click Save in the Timeline toolbar to persist all your edits. Use Undo and Redo buttons to step back or forward through your changes. Once satisfied, proceed to generate your karaoke video.
